Flight Point heralded a successful return to racing with a trial win at Wingatui yesterday.
Flight Point was sidelined last November after he bled during the Coupland's Mile at Riccarton.
"He had never shown any sign of bleeding before and he has not shown any indication since," Shane Anderton, his co-trainer, said.
Flight Point returned to work three months ago.
He dashed to the lead over 800m yesterday and he was not extended to win by a length in 48.50, the last 600m in 35.59.
"There is a 1200m race for him at Timaru [September 13] and he has been nominated for the Coupland's Mile," Brian Anderton said.
Lesley Brook, the South Island 2yr-old of the year, won the other open 800m heat in 49.21, the last 600m in 36.36.
Winner of the Welcome Stakes at Riccarton last November, Lesley Brook is set to resume in the Canterbury Belle Stakes at Riccarton on September 19.
So Far, a Sunray-Aggravation 4yr-old with Paul Richards, ran the fastest 800m of 47.9, home in 35.6.
Doris Brook, the 3yr-old Volksraad-Knauss filly, also made a good impression.
