Eric's Legend equalled the track record for 2200m (mobile) with his win in 2.41.1 at Forbury Park last night.
The record was set by Howard Bromac in 2001. It was the 10th win for Eric's Legend and his sixth since joining the stable of Robert Dunn. He has been driven in those wins by stable horseman John Dunn.
The 4yr-old is owned by Brian McCully, of Timaru.
Little Joe, a brother of Eric's Legend, won the final race last night. He continued a good week for Waikiuaiti trainer Bruce Negus, who won three races at Gore on Tuesday.
• Reginaldo, the replacement for a foal who died in utero, won at Forbury Park when having his fourth start.
Reginaldo is raced by breeder Garth Cross, of Waikaka and trained by Ken McRae at Waimumu.
Cross bred Reginaldo from Black Eagle after being leased the mare by Syd and Shona Brown, of Mosgiel. Cross utilised a return service to leading sire Christian Cullen. His mare Tickover died in 2004 when in foal to Christian Cullen.
Reginaldo is the second foal of Black Eagle (Son Of Afella-Waikana).
Tickover won five races for Cross. She was trained for her last win by McRae. Her four foals include Crossfire, who won two races when trained by McRae for Cross and his late father, Reg. Crossfire was sold to the United States and took a record of 1.51.6.
Reg Cross was a successful owner and trainer in the 1950s from a stable in the Otama Valley. He was known as Reginaldo when he served in World War 2.
Jollity was another winner for him from the McRae stable.
• Verlocity cleared maiden ranks last night for Rhode Island owner Don Emond. The 4yr-old was bought for Emond last October by Greendale trainer Bruce Hutton. Verlocity qualified at Ashburton in July and the Mach Three gelding was having his third start last night.
Hutton bought the trotter Bo Didley for Mr Emond in 2007 and won two races with the gelding before consigning him to the US. Bo Didley has trotted in 1.56.8.
• Thrill Seeker won the 1-5w discretionary handicap last night three days after her dam, Thrill Me gave birth. Thrill Me foaled a colt by Thanksgiving for breeder Jo McMaster on Tuesday.
Thrill Seeker is a 5yr-old mare by Sundon raced held on lease from McMaster by Sue Anderson (wife of trainer, Dave), Mike and Gaynor Hancock, Paul and Tracy Piper and Peter Mackie.
Dave Anderson, who has few drives, handled Thrill Seeker in copybook style, taking a trail and challenging along the passing lane.
Anderson trained Torbrae to win three races earlier.
• Barmy Army will bypass the Timaru meeting tomorrow.
"We will wait for Addington next week or the junior drivers race at Oamaru," John Dunn, the driver of Barmy Army, said.
Barmy Army finished a close second to Live Dangerously at Addington on Thursday night.
He has had two seconds and a third from four starts since joining the stable of Robert Dunn a month ago.
Franco Caesar, the favourite, was pulled up in race nine after he bled.
