Girls’ Brigade national commissioner Sue Cammell (right) presents Janet Hollard, of Dunedin, with her Queen’s Award certificate during an event last month hosted by His Excellency Dr Richard Davies at Government House in Wellington. She received the accolade having finished a two-year programme including voluntary community service at the Caversham Baptist Church breakfast church as well as completing an art assignment. "I painted a mixture of acrylic and watercolour landscape with a water or beach theme to them to try the same art style of my great great aunt Ena Jeans, who was a watercolourist."
Open to young women aged 15 to 25, the Queen’s Award is an international distinction of the highest merit and recognises leadership, dedication and excellence in the community. "I feel very proud of all the hard work that went into receiving the award and thankful for the support I received along the way," she said.
