The magic of Roald Dahl is returning to the Fortune Theatre in the New Zealand premiere of James and the Giant Peach.

The production is the third in the Fortune's trilogy of Dahl classics, following The Witches and The Twits.

"Roald Dahl is timeless and he's always had huge appeal to people of all ages," Australian director Laura Cooney said.

James and the Giant Peach features Bayfield High School pupil Hadley Taylor (16) as James, while Mark Neilson and Danny Still return for their third Roald Dahl play at the Fortune after appearing in The Witches and The Twits. James and the Giant Peach, by Roald Dahl, opens at the Fortune Theatre on Friday, August 8, and runs till Saturday, August 30, with school matinees on Wednesdays.

Curriculum-linked education packs are available for schools.

Cast members perform a preview reading at 3.45pm today at the city library.
