The Rotary Children’s Ward now has a state-of-the-art specialist cot, and new iPads to help entertain sick children, thanks to a generous donation from Fin Heads.

Charge Nurse Manager Shirley Bell said the department is delighted with the cot, which is height adjustable with head and foot tilt, making it extremely valuable in the care of sick babies and toddlers.

The iPads are also very useful, for example to provide distractions during procedures.

The donations were made in memory of Mr Heads’ wife Shirley, who had worked for many years in the Hospital’s Sterile Services team, and his son Peter, who passed away last year.

Mr Heads also worked at Dunedin Hospital for some 35 years, looking after the plumbing, drainage and gasfitting for the hospitals across the Otago district.

Thank you for your generosity, Mr Heads. Your beautiful gifts will make a huge difference.
