David Bain to speak at justice conference

David Bain is to give a keynote address at an international conference for victims of injustice.

The International Justice Conference, in Perth next year, is billed as the first gathering of its kind, bringing victims of injustice together with forensic experts.

Mr Bain was convicted in 1995 of murdering his parents, Robin and Margaret, and siblings Laniet, Arawa and Stephen in their Dunedin home.

He was acquitted at retrial in June 2009, his defence team arguing his father shot the other four family members before turning the gun on himself.

Mr Bain will speak alongside eight other "VIP" speakers, including New Zealand-born Lindy Chamberlain, and American Rubin "Hurricane" Carter..

Mr Carter was wrongly imprisoned in the United States from 1966 to 1985 for triple murder while Ms Chamberlain spent three years in jail for the murder of her nine-week-old daughter Azaria, who she said was taken by a dingo while camping near Ayers Rock, in Australia's Norther Territory.

Ms Chamberlain was found innocent by an Australian Royal Commission in 1988.
