Bus bike rack use resumes

Bike rack use on the Otago Regional Council’s (ORC) Orbus services in Dunedin and Queenstown are being resumed in time for Easter weekend.

ORC transport manager Lorraine Cheyne thanked the public for their patience and acknowledged the frustration felt by some passengers.

The use of bikes racks in Dunedin will resume from 6am Saturday.

The use of bike racks in Queenstown will resume during the day from 7am-6pm from tomorrow. Night use will resume from early next month.

The temporary night-time restriction on the use of bike racks started on November 2, after NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi issued a safety notice because carrying bikes at night could potentially obscure headlamps on some buses.
