BZP case to go to trial

A North Otago man has been committed for trial on a charge of possession of a class C drug (benzylpiperazine or BZP) for supply.

In the Oamaru District Court yesterday, Alan Edward Bromby (44) was remanded on bail by justices of the peace Anne Hore and Bill Saxton to appear in the Timaru District Court on August 28 for a date to be set.

Bromby's appearance was excused in the court yesterday.

The evidence was handed up by prosecutor Acting Sergeant Graeme Evans.

Defence counsel Quentin Stratford accepted there was a prima facie case.
