Olympics: Swimmers fail to advance past heats

New Zealand's 4 x 200m women's relay team were last night disqualified from their Olympic heat while Dean Kent finished seventh in his 200m individual medley event.

Kent was well below his best, clocking 2min 01.12sec, for 21st fastest time overall. The top 16 finishers, led by American Ryan Lochte's 1:58.15, will contest today's semifinal.

Natasha Hind, anchoring New Zealand in the relay, left the blocks a split second too early to end the Kiwi's semifinal hopes.
