Directed by David Thomson with musical direction and choreography by Tobias Devereaux, Robin Hood & the Babes in the Woods features an all-ages cast of local performers.
Written by Ben Crocker with music by Richard Lamming, Robin Hood & The Babes in the Woods offers a new twist on the classic tale of Robin Hood, returning from the Holy Land to find his land stolen by the Sheriff of Nottingham.
Robin Hood and his band of Merry Men — Little John (Little John’s Daughter), Friar Tuck, Alan-a-Dale and others — live in Sherwood Forest, taking from the rich and giving to the poor.
They are hard at work resisting the wicked Sheriff and his not-so-wicked tax collector Dennis, as they plot ways to capture Robin Hood, get rid of the sheriff’s niece and nephew (who have inherited the estate), and marry Maid Marian.
However, Robin and his men are always about two steps ahead of them and, with the arrival of Marian’s former nanny, plans are made to hit the sheriff where it hurts most (in his treasury).
There are lots of shenanigans and giant doors galore, but the big question in this family show is will the sheriff get his just deserts?
