Tourism personality

Dunedin's tourism personality of the year will be revealed this month.

Dunedin Host will announce the 2013 winner of its Michelle McCormack Award at its annual meeting at the Otago Museum on June 26.

Chairman Norcombe Barker said eight nominations had been received, including those for some business owners.

Last year's award went to Orokonui Ecosanctuary guide Sue Hensley.

The annual accolade honours the memory of Michelle McCormack, who was a major contributor to Otago tourism before she was killed in an accident in 2004.

The award winner receives a paua shell trophy.

Our journalists are your neighbours

We are the South's eyes and ears in crucial council meetings, at court hearings, on the sidelines of sporting events and on the frontline of breaking news.

As our region faces uncharted waters in the wake of a global pandemic, Otago Daily Times continues to bring you local stories that matter.

We employ local journalists and photographers to tell your stories, as other outlets cut local coverage in favour of stories told out of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
