Dunedin's Black Boy Peaches are throwing two release shows for their new CD next weekend.

Front man Tom Mepham says holding all-ages and R18 shows separately is pretty simple.

"Straightforward - different audiences. We have a strong teenage support base, and want to keep putting sweet shows on for them. An R18 gig, for the same reasons: to put a sweet show for the older crowd."

Mepham believes the album will let listeners into the inner workings of the band.

"We wanted to create an album that gave a great impression of where we are at, and what we are loving about our music at the moment."

Both Black Boy Peaches release shows are at ReFuel next Saturday, April 9.

Supporting Chch
Hoping to provide support for Canterbury following February's earthquake is the aptly titled Quakefest '11.

Former Christchurch musician Brett Lupton and Dunedin music doyen Scott Muir have put together two shows next Friday, one at ReFuel and one at Sammy's.

Rather than aiming to raise money, Quakefest '11 is a relief festival, as Dunedin donates venues, audiences and a weekend away to Christchurch musicians bereft of venues.

Lupton says it is "an opportunity to showcase Christchurch music to the good folk of Dunedin and a chance, also, for the bands to unwind for a weekend and simply do what they do best."

The line up for the Quakefest '11 concerts is:

Sammy's: T54, Dialtones, Undercurrents, Valdera, Piha Rescue, Gorgeous Disorders.

ReFuel: Permanence, Hayne, Anthesiac, Killshot, Medics, Lupus Lunar.

Shakin' Long Beach
An earthquake relief fundraiser is being held tonight in the bustling metropolis of Long Beach.

The Long Beach Shake-down features performances by the Lounge Lizards; Both Sides of the Line; Hana Fahy and the Low Tones; Three Dollar Easy, and headlining the event is Delgirl.

The show begins in the Long Beach Hall at 8pm this evening.

From the Bushman
Little Bushman's latest album will be released on Monday. However, the band's nationwide tour sees them in Dunedin tonight, playing a show at Sammy's. Frontman Warren Maxwell says the band is proud of Te Oranga, and looking forward to sharing the new songs with New Zealand audiences before heading across the ditch for shows including at the Byron Bay Blues festival.

Ticket time
Tickets to Feastock are now on sale and organisers are also pleased to announce the release of their "Feastockumentary".

The annual Feastock party in Dalmore is a couple of weeks away and organisers are sharing some news: The Aesthetics have pulled out, but are being replaced by Ash and The Matadors.

Organisers have managed to swing a deal with Citibus to have a free shuttle between the event and Refuel running every 10 minutes until 10pm.

To Oamaru
Julia Deans and Anna Coddington have announced a nationwide tour, which will include the South, but not Dunedin.

The Keepsakes tour begins in Havelock North at the end of April. It visits the Penguin Club in Oamaru on May 12, and the Heartland Hotel, Gore, on Friday 13.

Finn fettle
It was announced this week that Tim Finn will play support for Bob Dylan at his Auckland show. The one-night-only show in Auckland's Vector Arena on April 30 is being promoted partially as a songwriting master-class.
